STEP is Unique

STEP is an Employer Based Organization

STEP is managed by the British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) and its four regional associations (Vancouver Island Construction Association, Vancouver Regional Construction Association, Southern Interior Construction Association, BC Construction Association – North).  The provincial reach of BCCA enables STEP to have offices across the province of British Columbia, servicing as far north as Fort Nelson all the way to the southern border of BC, with main regional offices in Victoria, Prince George, Vancouver, and Kelowna.

More than Construction

BCCA developed STEP’s unique approach to address the wide range of both employer and worker needs across the province of British Columbia. In doing so, BCCA created a huge benefit to the construction industry and those looking to start or advance a career in the skilled trades.  The success of STEP in construction has led to programs covering all 140 industry training authority recognized trades and a new program in tourism for Persons with Disabilities.

The unique funding model and our direct connection to employers in BC is what has helped BCCA make STEP so successful.  STEP puts a new twist on connecting workers with employment.

About the BC Construction Association

The BC Construction Association is the largest and most inclusive construction employer organization in the province.  BCCA represents nearly 2000 non-union and union contractors active in all sectors of the industry, but primarily focused on Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional construction.  Our members include general contractors, trade contractors and suppliers, large and small, from all regions of BC. BCCA members hire and train over 75% of the trainees currently in the construction sector.
